Summer

A few weeks before the official beginning of summer, roses start to blossom.

One has to make the most of those which only flower once, even if the rose trees planted in le Clos de Chanchore are generally specially chosen for their repeat-flowering characteristics.

Hemerocallis surround them in friendly fashion.

Next come the hydrangeas which are going to embellish the garden all summer long, and some of them will be even more attractive in their autumn colours.

At the end of August, the first asters are in flower and ornamental grasses lighten the borders.
